Balanced offense leads Saints past Brooklin 19-4 in Game One

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The St. Catharines Saints began their quest for a third straight OLA Sr. B Title Friday night at home as they opened the second round of the OLA Playoffs with a 19-4 victory over the Brooklin Merchants at Bill Burgoyne Arena.

The Saints scored early and often taking a commanding 7-1 lead after one period and extending their lead to 14-2 at the end of 40 minutes.

Leading the St. Catharines offense was Andrew Potter who finished with nine points adding three goals and six assists. Chris Attwood (3G, 4A) and Dylan Llord (2G, 5A) both contributed with seven points each while Corey Fowler added six points chipping in with two goals and four helpers. Chris Janese finished with the natural hat trick adding three goals and one assist. Rounding out the Saints scoring were captain Brad Favero (2G, 2A), Jason Henhawk (2G, 1A), Mike Attwood (1G) and Andy Tober (1G).

Scoring for Brooklin were Jon Mason (2G), Brad Levick (1G, 2A) and Richard Haan (1G).

In goal Saints starter Jake Henhawk registered 35 saves for the victory. Brooklin starter Jason Armstrong suffered the loss.

Game Two of the Best 2-out-of-3 series is scheduled for Sunday, July 21at 4 PM at Luther Vipond Arena.
