St. Catharines Saints defeat Sarnia 10-9


The St. Catharines Sr. B Saints Corey Fowler scored with 1:11 remaining in regulation as the Saints defeated the Sarnia Beavers by the score of 10-9 Friday night at Bill Burgoyne Arena.

The Saints jumped out to an early 3-1 lead and led 6-5 after 40 minutes.

In the third period, Sarnia would take a one goal lead 7-6, after back-to-back goals from Winter Dockstader and Mike Flemming. St. Catharines answered back just 27 seconds later on goal from Geoff McNulty tying the game 7-7 with 13:07 remaining in regulation.

Sarnia regained the one goal lead 8-7 on a goal from Kyle Childerhose at 11:15. The Saints then added two straight from Dylan Llord and Chris Attwood to take a 9-8 lead with 6:15 remaining.

With 2:28 left, Sarnia's Shane Morlock beat St. Catharines goaltender David DiRuscio tying the game 9-9.

With just over a minute left, Spencer Allen and Dylan Llord setup Fowler who beat Sarnia goaltender Tye Belanger for the game winner as the Saints improved to 8-3. With the loss Sarnia falls to 2-7.

The Saints were led by Llord and Attwood who both had five-point performances adding two goals and three assists each. Fowler contributed with a goal and three helpers while McNulty added two goals and one assist. Rounding out the scoring were Chris Janese (1G, 1A), Kavan Sullivan (1G, 1A) and Dylan Goddard (1G).

Sarnia was led by Childerhose who finished with six points adding two goals and four assists. Colin McDowell chipped in with two goals and one assist while Chris Davey (1G, 1A), Morlock (1G, 1A), Dockstader (1G), Flemming (1G) and TJ Mara (1G) rounded out the scoring.
