Saints Acquire Geoff McNulty

The hosts of the 2015 President’s Cup have made their first move of the offseason, as the St. Catharines Saints have acquired Geoff McNulty from the Owen Sound North Stars in exchange for the left shooting Scott DeFrancesco.

McNulty, who is a St. Catharines, Ontario native, had spent parts of three seasons with the St. Catharines Saints before being moved to the Owen Sound North Stars last season. The 5’10”, 175 pound lefty spent his entire Junior career with his hometown St. Catharines Athletics, with his best season coming in 2010, when he racked up 42 goals and 57 assists for 99 points in 20 games. Since moving on from Junior McNulty has toiled with a number of teams, including brief stops in the NLL with the Toronto Rock, Boston Blazers and the Calgary Roughnecks (practice roster). McNulty is currently suiting up with the Canadian Lacrosse Leagues Durham Turfdogs, after spending the 2014 season with the Barrie Blizzard. In 35 career regular season games at the Senior B level, McNulty has racked up 54 goals and 68 assists for 122 points, he has also added 35 goals and 30 assists for 65 points in 20 playoff games at the Senior B level.

DeFrancesco, the 6’3″, 185 pound Scarborough, Ontario native was acquired by the St. Catharines Saints from the Brooklin Merchants prior to last seasons trade deadline. While the Saints fell short of their ultimate goal, DeFrancesco provided them with the offensive they where looking for when they acquired him, recording 12 points in four games. Following the Saints exit from the playoffs DeFrancesco joined the eventual Mann Cup Champion Six Nation Chiefs, where he would appear in four regular season games, racking up eight points and four playoff games where he recorded three points. DeFrancesco had been a potent offensive producer throughout his Senior and Junior Career. He’s twice been a top 10 scorer in the Ontario Senior B loop and has recorded 87 goals and 100 assists for 187 points in 62 regular season Senior B games. DeFrancesco has also seen success during the Senior B playoffs, racking up 54 points in 17 games.

While it’s likely McNulty will report to the St. Catharines Saints this season, Its unknown if DeFrancesco, who’s from Scarborough, will report to the Owen Sound North Stars when the Senior B season kicks off.
