Balanced attack and strong second period lead Saints to 16-9 victory

OWEN SOUND - Ont. - The St. Catharines Saints improved to a perfect 5-0 in Sr. B lacrosse action Friday night on the road as they defeated the Owen Sound North Stars (1-3) by the score of 16-9 at the Bayshore Community Center.

The Saints trailed 3-1 after 20 minutes, before answering with 12 of the next 13 goals, including nine in the second period, leading 13-4 early into the third period.

St. Catharines would take a 15-6 lead late in the final period, before the North Stars closed out the contest with three goals in the final four minutes.

The Saints offense was led by Corey Fowler who led all scorers with seven points adding three goals and four assists. Dylan Llord contributed with two goals and three assists for a five-point game while Jay Thorimbert (3G, 1A) and Chris Attwood (2G, 2A) both added four points each. Captain Brad Favero chipped in with two goals and one assist. Rounding out the Saints scoring were Andy Tober (2G), Jordie Daradick (1G, 1A) and Ross Smith (1G).

In goal, Saints veteran Jake Henhawk registered 35 saves for the victory. Owen Sound starter Zach Bowen suffered the loss allowing 12 goals on 29 shots.

St. Catharines next action is Friday, May 24th at 8pm when they host the Oakville Titans at the Bill Burgoyne Arena.
